Michael G. Chin - Fight Master
Michael G. Chin is a professional actor (AEA, AFTRA, SAG) as well as a sanctioned Master Instructor and choreographer with the Society of American Fight Directors. Heserves as fight director in residence for both The White Horse and Pan Asian Rep in NYC. He’s taught/choreographed/consulted in the New York area on Broadway as well as The Mint, Murder-To-Go, Theatreworks USA, La Mama ETC,National Asian American Thea Co, Ma-yi, The Public, Negro Ensemble Company, The Vineyard, NYU, Henry St Settlement, Baruch College, The Drama League, Classical Theatre of Harlem, Montclair State Univ, New York Renaissance Fest and The NY Fringe Thea Festival. Nationally, he has worked at The Barter, Celebration Barn, Burt Reynolds Inst for Thea, Muhlenberg Summer Festival, Univ of Tulsa, The Crossroads, Brown Univ, Cape Cod Community College, BYU, The Hangar, Dickinson College, Louisiana Tech, NY State Theatre Inst.,Tennesee Rep, Merrimack Theatre, Off The Square Thea in Wyoming, Gainesville Theatre Alliance, Univ of Northern Colorado, IUP, International Stunt School and Yale School of Drama. Mr. Chin currently teaches at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA, as well as at Brooklyn College, Pace University, and Juilliard. Jay Burckhardt - Certified Teacher
Jay Burckhardt is a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors, a Stunt Coordinator and Fight Arranger for film, and owner of JKChoreography, a stunt company based out of Chicago. Coordinator for numerous award-winning independent films, Jay has worked with Columbia College Chicago, Depaul University, University of Illinois Chicago, and the Independent Film Board of Chicago in training up-and-coming filmmakers how to work with stunt coordinators and explaining the process of designing action sequences for film. Jay has also designed violence for the stage in theaters around Chicago, including Ravens Theater Company and Griffin Theater Company. He has also directed live stunt shows for special red carpet events, and worked with motion capture studios designing violence for video games. Jay has taught at SAFD workshops (including the Winter Wonderland Workshop in Chicago), and the ZFX Fighting and Flying Workshop.
Casey Kaleba - Certified Teacher
Casey Kaleba has staged fights for more than 200 productions, including work with the Folger Theatre, Round House Theatre, Signature Theatre, and New Brunswick Theatre Festival. He has taught stage combat for the University of Maryland, Old Dominion University, the Shakespeare Theatre, as well as internationally for Fight Directors Canada, the Nordic Stagefight Society, and the Paddy Crean Workshop. He has been a proud part of the Carnage in the Corn workshop since its inception.
Harris Smith - Certified Teacher
Currently, Harris is an Associate Professor of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre & Film at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as well as the Head of the Professional Actor Training Program. Harris earned his M.F.A in Acting from the University of Washington, School of Drama. He is a Certified Teacher of stage combat through the S.A.F.D. His fight direction and movement coaching includes; St. Louis Black Repertory, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Nebraska Repertory Theatre, Capital Repertory (NY) and Seattle Children’s Theatre to name a few. Some of his theatrical credits include; Utah Shakespeare Festival, A Contemporary Theatre (Seattle), Sacramento Theatre Company, Shakespeare on the Green(Nebraska), Illinois Shakespeare Festival as well as other national and international venues. Film credits include, RUNAWAY TRAIN, SINGLES, PAST MIDNIGHT, AMAZING GRACE & CHUCK, SEVEN HOURS TO JUGEMENT and CHIPS THE WAR DOG.
D.C. Wright - Certified Teacher
A Senior Instructor with Dueling Arts International, D.C. is currently the Head of Movement and Stage Combat at Western Illinois University. D.C. has been very active in teaching at national, regional, and local stage combat workshops including the DAI Winter Workshop, DAI Teachers Symposium, DAI Fight Director and Performance Workshops, the SAFD National Stage Combat Workshop in Las Vegas, the SAFD Winter Wonderland Workshop in Chicago, the Rumble in the Rockies in Denver, the Stage Combat Training Workshop in Eureka, IL and the United Stuntmen’s Association’s International Stunt School in Seattle.
D.C’s work as a Fight Director has been viewed at numerous venues around the country including: the Off Broadway production of The Blowin of Baile Gall at the Donaghy Theatre at the Irish Arts Center, Macbeth, Twelfth Night, and Henry VIII at the Illinois Shakespeare Festival, and Of Mice and Men and Romeo and Juliet for the Arkansas Repertory Theatre. Additionally his work has been seen at the Boston Playwrights Theater, Boston Musica Viva, Boston University Theater, Boston University Opera Institute, Tuachan, Actor’s Repertory Theater Ensemble, Brigham Young University, University of Kansas, University of Utah and Western Illinois University.
In conjunction with Dueling Arts International, D.C, wrote, directed and/or performed in three Wild West Stunt Shows for Leo Foo amusement park in Taiwan and he has also acted in and/or been the stunt coordinator/fight director for several commercials and industrial films. Most notable is the recently released DAI production called “And They Fight…”, a 23 hr. six volume stage combat instructional series covering all major weapon styles in which he is a primary demonstrator.
